Having just opened my own private practice, I've found myself using this reference time and again to help with creating forms and taking high-quality clinical notes. Sutton's guide to clinical language and documentation is a great investment for therapists at any level of experience

Dr. Sutton's guide to clinical language and documentation is a great investment for therapists at any level of experience, but a must-have for a new clinician. Being a new clinician myself, I initially struggled to create robust progress notes that captured the therapeutic process using strong clinical language. Using the case studies included in this book, I was able to better understand how to appropriately employ clinical language and document sessions in a way that is not only acceptable to my superiors in the field, but I daresay impressive. Once you've finished reading through it and have taken advantage of the practice opportunities inside, this book makes a nice a la carte menu of clinical terms and phrases that elevate progress notes and give them a truly professional quality. The Counselor's STEPs for Progress Notes are universal and make a great resource no matter your designation or practice setting. Highly recommended!
