A solid introduction to Ember.js and its ecosystem

This is a solid introduction to Ember.js, as well as ember-cli and ember-data. The book doesn't go into great depth, but it touches on all the important parts of the framework.

I've found it hard to learn Ember.js, because the framework has been in flux and much of the online documentation is out of date. For example, Ember's controllers are scheduled to be deprecated, but a lot of the Ember tutorials were written when controllers were an important part of an Ember application. In this book, the author says: "The Ember team plans to deprecate controllers early in the 2.x release cycle, in favor of performing similar work in the route or in components. Future versions of this book will follow suit, and for now, we’re avoiding using controllers as much as possible." At the time of writing this review, there's not a lot of good advice available online on how to avoid using controllers, which makes the examples in this book all the more valuable.

I also appreciate the way that this book doesn't get distracted by introducing addons for this, that, and the next thing. Each chapter contains a sidebar that points you in the direction of an addon that you might find useful, and those suggestions give you plenty more to read up on if you want.

I've been using Ember.js for about a year now and I wish that I had read this book sooner.

I bought the electronic version and liked the way content is presented. As a new learner of Ember I found this book a great introduction how to work with Ember, with very clear and up to date explanations. It contains tips on useful addons from the Ember addons ecosystem as well as developing and publishing your own addon. It is not a long book so the reader can quickly get started working on apps but perhaps an additional more in depth chapter on how the Ember framework functions behind the scenes would be useful for better understanding.

This was another great by another great author. Romance was perfect but not too quick between starving hero and heroine. It centered on this one child that ultimately brought the two together. It was romantic, suspensful, and downright amazing.

Love Goodnight Moon? Try this

My 3-year-old son's favorite book! The more you read it, the more it sounds like poetry, an experience I remember having with Goodnight Moon by the same author. Illustrations couldn't be more original and adorable. My son has MEMORIZED it page by page.

Felt a little mislead after buying

I admit to feeling a bit duped when I bought this book for my digger-crazy son. The pictures are beautifully illustrated, but the whole story is nonsensical and disjointed, not at all poetic as some have described. It's hard to describe except that it seems like a random bunch of rhymes put together poorly, without a clear story or logic. Given there are so many smartly written children's books out there (our favorite is Goodnight Good night Construction Site), I thought this was really disappointing. The only reason why I'm still giving it 3 stars is that my 2 yo doesn't seem to notice and still asks for the book, which sometimes drives me crazy. I think he just likes the fact that several of the pages feature the digger rather prominently.

Beautiful poetry

There isn't a shortage of contemporary children's books about diggers or trains. We have many of them because of my 2 year old son who loves trains and trucks. But this book, which I happened upon quite by accident, is my favorite because it is such a pleasure to read. The melody of the words is so beautiful, it reads much more like poetry. It never needs to go out of rotation because I can't stand to read it out loud. This is one we always reach for at bedtime, and any other time of the day.

Difficult to follow the author's thought process.

I did not enjoy this book. It was hard to follow, the 'comic strips' rarely made sense, and the text is smaller then the standard. I do have to note, however, that the material it was presenting was good. My profession had a sort of 'cheat sheet' for this book- a packet produced by the author to be more reader friendly. In my opinion, if you have to make a supplement packet to make your textbook readable, then you should review the format of the textbook.

I like that book. This book is more theoretical. Every chapter has a case study which will help to understand the chapter. There is one deficiency in this book that it will not tell us line by line code details as compared to other books which is needed for a new programmer. This edition also give header file details in the end.

Great inspiration, foundation and assistance for creating a more positive life.

Christine Morgan has put together a wonderful collection of quotes, thoughts and inspirational questions that help those who choose to accept the challenge, take steps toward a more positive life. Rather than simply being just another "self-help" book, "Motivational Mondays" provides ideas to help guide the reader toward introspection and self-analysis, as well as answer the question, "How can I make changes that will help turn my life toward a more positive direction?"

This is not a simple fix-all, kind of book. However, while I have not yet completed the book's challenge, I am weeks into it, and I have found that taking a week to ponder each week's item in the book, and actually writing answers as as way to solidify the ideas I find within, have indeed helped me find greater understanding of myself, my life, and ways to move forward in a brighter perspective.
